“In the face of impossible odds,
people who love this country can change it.”
— Barack Obama, 2008

On this 11th day of the 11th month
we pause to honor the service and sacrifice
of the men and women
who serve today at duty stations around the globe,
and who have served in years past
with the same unwavering commitment
to protect all that we hold dear.

Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day
—a common misunderstanding.
Memorial Day honors American service members
who died in service to their country
or as a result of injuries incurred during battle,
while Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans
—living or dead—
but especially gives thanks to living veterans
who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.

On this day,
the Chester County Democratic Committee
wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude
to all who are serving and
to all who have served to protect our great nation:
Thank you for your service.

— Dick Bingham, CCDC Chair

"The feeling of the nation must be quickened; the conscience of the nation must be roused; the propriety of the nation must be startled..." --Frederick Douglass, in "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?", his 1852 oration in Rochester NY commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
