#RESIST THE CHAOS!

Are you wanting to contact your federal legislators and the White House about the chaotic and harmful actions being taken by Congressional Republicans, DOGE, and the White House but don’t know how to start? We’ve drafted some scripts to use – and there are more to come.

THE BUDGET

My name is [your name] from [Chester County / your municipality] and I’m [calling/writing] to urge you to vote against the Republican sponsored Budget Reconciliation Bill that will cut critical funds from [Medicaid / Medicare / Social Security or all of these]. I’m especially [angry/concerned] that these cuts are on the backs of the middle class and working people and will be going mostly to fund $4.5 Trillion in tax cuts to the top 1% and big corporations. I agree the deficit and national debt is important to address, but this ADDS trillions to the debt.

[Instead, bipartisan legislation should be enacted that addresses the concerns of all Americans in a thoughtful way.]
[And where is legislation to address inflation and lower prices that was promised?]

Thank you for addressing my concerns.

VETERANS

My name is [your name] from [Chester County / your municipality] and as a Veteran (or friend/family member of a veteran), I’m [calling/writing] to urge you to address my concerns related to the following:

  1. Health Care Access: Veterans rely heavily on VA health care services, including treatment for burn-pit exposures and transportation for blind veterans. Cuts to these services could have dire consequences for veterans who depend on them.
  2. Job Reductions: The proposed budget includes layoffs of nearly 2,500 VA workers and a hiring freeze. This could impact the delivery of care and benefits to veterans, leading to longer wait times and reduced service levels.
  3. Transparency and Communication: Advocacy groups have expressed concerns about the lack of transparency and communication from DOGE and the VA regarding the cuts. They are calling for greater transparency and communication from Congress, the VA, and the White House when fundamental changes are made to the department.
  4. Impact on Vulnerable Populations: Cuts to VA programs could disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, such as homeless veterans and women veterans who rely on VA services.
  5. Potential Privatization: There are concerns that the cuts could lead to increased privatization of veteran health care, potentially reducing access to specialized care options.

These concerns highlight the potential negative impact of the proposed budget cuts on veterans’ access to essential services and benefits. I am urging you to protect VA services and prevent any efforts to reduce or tax veterans’ benefits. We served this country faithfully [as you did?] and the actions being taken are shameful.
