Chester County Democrats Surge Toward May 19th Primary as Voter Registration Gap Widens

WEST CHESTER, PA – With the primary election just weeks away, the Chester County Democratic Committee (CCDC) is reporting historic momentum. New voter data reveals that the registration gap between Democrats and Republicans in the county has surged to over 8,000, signaling a decisive shift in the local political landscape heading into the May 19th Primary Election.

A Unified Front for Progress

The Democratic ticket is headlined by a powerhouse lineup of proven leaders, including Governor Josh Shapiro, Lt. Governor Austin Davis, and US 6th District Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan. Party leaders are emphasizing a record of results in Harrisburg, focusing on a “People First” agenda that prioritizes:

• Affordability: Combatting rising costs for working families.
• Healthcare: Expanding access, especially in rural areas, and lowering prescription drug prices.
• Education: Ensuring equitable funding for Chester County schools.

Accountability Amid Federal Turmoil

As the national landscape remains volatile, Chester County Democrats are committed to holding the Trump administration accountable. Party leadership noted that “Trump’s war of choice” in Iran continues to act as a significant drag on the economy, while ongoing reports of corruption and incompetence within his cabinet have alienated moderate and independent voters. “The actions taken by this Republican administration are hurting, not helping, Americans. We aren’t just running against the poor performance and instability of the Republican Party,” said a CCDC spokesperson. “While their apologists ignore the crisis in D.C., our candidates are laser-focused on the affordability crisis here at home. We are offering a vision of stability, integrity, and economic relief.”

The 2026 Primary Slate

In addition to Houlahan, Shapiro and Davis, Chester County Democrats are proud to support a diverse and experienced group of incumbent* and new candidates dedicated to protecting the community’s interests in the State House and Senate:
