FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHESTER COUNTY DEMOCRATS DELIVER WINS – REIF, MAISANO, AND VAN DE KROL RE-ELECTED, GARCIA-JACKSON TAKES CORONER; ROVITO AND VERWEY WIN COUNTY COURT RACES (UNOFFICIAL)
Democrats Again Sweep Four Row Office Seats and Add Two Justices to Court of Common Pleas
West Chester, PA (November 4, 2021) — The “Democrats Deliver” campaign theme resonated with Chester County voters, as the first wave of historic row office winners from 2017 were re-elected Tuesday based on delivering progress and improved services, while dealing with the pandemic. Republican political attacks based on insignificant complaints and half-truths and without any new policy ideas failed to sway voters from re-electing Margaret Reif as Controller, Patricia Maisano as Treasurer, and Yolanda van de Krol as Clerk of Courts. Retiring Coroner Christina VandePol was replaced by Deputy Coroner Sophia Garcia-Jackson.  In addition, Democratic attorneys Alita Rovito and Tony Verwey secured both open seats in the Courts of Common Pleas.
The cultural attacks presented by Republicans on county School Boards covering Critical Race Theory (which is not taught in schools), anti-masking, and anti-mandates appears to have had minimal effect on those races, and Democrats and moderate Republicans supported by parent and teacher groups largely won those School Director seats. There were also Democrat wins for township supervisor and mayoral races down the ballot, generally adding to majorities.
Results are unofficial, as officials wait for the number and breakdown of ballots not counted and the reason for not counting them. A little over 500 Provisional Ballots are being researched today. Damaged Ballots and Provisional Ballots will be processed tomorrow. A total of 694 ballots were not counted due to not meeting PA State Law Requirements. Military and Overseas Ballots will be processed on Tuesday, November 9th since that is the last day they can be received. Snippets for the Write-In candidates will be posted tonight, then processed on Monday. Snippets are a list of the write-in names as they appear on all the ballots.
