from Joe Biden, Apr 13, 2020
I want to take a minute to thank my friend Bernie Sanders for his endorsement and being a powerful voice for a fairer and more just America.
It’s voices like his that refuse to allow us to just accept what is — that refuse to accept we can’t change what’s wrong in our nation — and that refuse to accept the health and well-being of our fellow citizens and our planet isn’t our responsibility too.
He doesn’t get enough credit for being a voice that forces us all to take a hard look in the mirror and ask if we’ve done enough. He has put the interest of the nation — and the need to defeat Donald Trump — above all else.
I’m excited to continue the work Bernie started in the months and years ahead. As he says: Not me. Us.
And to Bernie’s supporters, I make the same commitment: I see you, I hear you, and I understand the urgency of what it is we have to get done in this country.
I hope you will join us. You are more than welcome on this campaign. You’re needed.
Whether you’ve been with me since the beginning or just joined our campaign this week, I’m more confident than ever that this is the movement that will beat Donald Trump.
Many of the biggest cracks in the social safety net have been laid bare because of this crisis — from health care to paid sick leave to the shortcomings of our unemployment system.
We will need to build a 21st century safety net that takes care of our citizens in times of crisis, yes — but in all times.
We will need to address rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure.
We will need to shore up our democracy.
And we all know the clock is ticking — we don’t have a moment to waste in combating the climate crisis.
In short, we need to build a fairer, more inclusive, more resilient America.
I’m confident that with the support of leaders like Bernie on my side, we can do that. But I also need your help. If you could chip in even a few bucks, I’d really appreciate it:
Let’s go do this,
