“Despite Trump Invitation to Stop Taking Refugees, Red and Blue States Alike Endorse Resettlement” by Muzaffar Chishti and Sarah Pierce at Migration Information Source, Jan. 29 2020, summarizes the latest on refugee settlement. Most states have in fact declared that they welcome refugees (see map). Furthermore, 2 weeks ago the 9/26/19 presidential order requiring state and local approval of refugee resettlement was blocked, for now, by a Maryland court as violating the Refugee Act of 1980. If this injunction is stayed or overturned, then current resettlement approvals by states including Pennsylvania and other government units, like Lancaster County and and West Chester Borough last fall and Chester County last week, will be ready to go (or go back) into into effect.
