Dear Friend,

I normally would say ‘I hope you and your family are enjoying this long holiday weekend’; however, it might feel like every other weekend of late.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day and I can’t let that day go by without thinking of its true meaning. It is not about hot dogs and hamburgers. It’s about remembering the men and women who have died while serving in the military to defend our way of life. They are heroes.

This Memorial Day we have others who have also died serving our community. During this pandemic, our nation has lost police, first responders, physicians, nurses, care workers, grocery store workers, mail workers and other essential front-line workers to Covid-19. They are heroes too. [Photo: Phoenixville Hospital]

I hope you’ll join me in remembering all those we’ve lost and the families who mourn them.

Better days are ahead. I believe that kindness can go a long way. It’s the small gesture of saying thank you or simply having patience with one another. We are being tested but I know we will pass the test.

Be safe,

Melissa
