Joe Lunsford has been working for Chester County since 1985. As the Sheriff of Chester County, he would implement financial transparency, use his experience to protect the public, and restore the integrity of the office. Starting work at the County Prison as a Corrections Officer and then transferring to the Sheriff’s Office, he was promoted to Corporal and then to Sergeant by Sheriff Welsh. He has supervised all proceedings of the Court of Common Pleas for over 25 years, working with attorneys, the public, the deputies, the judges, and their staff. He has numerous certifications, active shooter training, Sheriff’s Academy, police officer supervisor training, United States Marshall Judicial Security training, and many others. He has received commendations for apprehending one of Chester County’s Most Wanted, apprehending robbery suspects, and many others. He has been married for over 32 years to his wife, Wendy; they have one son and two grandchildren.
