email from Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, Jan 16, 2019

What an incredible week. Yesterday morning, I was sworn in as Pennsylvania’s 34th Lieutenant Governor — and today was my first day of presiding over the Senate.

I am deeply, deeply humbled by the confidence you have placed in me and for this opportunity to serve this great state. I am proud and grateful to stand beside Governor Tom Wolf, a man who has always served with the utmost integrity, dignity and honor. But this has never been about me. It’s about you.

And today, we’re putting all of the important conversations we had on the campaign trail — in union halls, your homes, Turnpike rest stops — to work. It begins with fighting for the progress Governor Wolf has made on working to build an economy that works for everyone, making our justice system more fair, and protecting access to affordable healthcare. His agenda is my agenda.

And it continues with rejecting the cynicism and partisan gridlock that has stood in the way of real solutions for places like Aliquippa, Chester, Duquesne, Erie, New Castle, North Philadelphia, Shamokin, and Scranton.

I know it won’t be easy. Progress never is. But know that under our leadership, our work will be on behalf of every county, every township, every block, every vote, and EVERY voice.

Let’s get to it.

Thank you,

John
