Press Release: Chester County Democrats Endorse 2025 Primary Election Candidates

CHESTER COUNTY DEMOCRATS MEET TO ENDORSE COUNTY ROW OFFICE AND JUDICIAL CANDIDATES

INCUMBENTS MAISANO AND GARCIA-JACKSON AND NEWCOMERS CHERUBINO AND BRADLEY ENDORSED FOR COUNTY ROW OFFICES; SMITH AND CAULEY ENDORSED FOR COURT OF COMMON PLEAS

West Chester, PA (February 18, 2025) – Chester County’s Democratic Committee (CCDC) met Tuesday night virtually to endorse candidates for the May 20, 2025 Primary Election. A total of 321 committee members or their proxies heard from the candidates, with a 60% threshold vote required for endorsement.

The following Row Office endorsements were reached at the convention: Controller – Nick Cherubino; Treasurer – Patricia Maisano (incumbent); Coroner – Sophia GarciaJackson (incumbent); and Clerk of Courts – Caroline Bradley.

There are two openings for the Chester County Court of Common Pleas, with McKenzie Smith and Clay Cauley selected for endorsement. Nods for Magisterial District Judges went to James Kovaleski (District 15-2-01), Anthony diFrancesca (15-2-03), and Joe Heffern (15-3-07). The Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee met earlier and endorsed Judge Brandon Neumann for Superior Court and Judge Stella Tsai for Commonwealth Court.

Supreme Court Judges Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht are supported for retention as well as Judge Alice Beck Dubois (Superior Court) and Judge Michael H. Wojcik (Commonwealth Court.)

After welcoming the voting committee members and guests, Chairwoman Charlotte Valyo began by recognizing the challenges and time commitments that candidates face in running for elected office, thanking them for taking the initiative. At the conclusion of endorsement voting she went on to state “The Chester County Democratic Committee once again has a fully endorsed slate and, as in the past, the slate is qualified, experienced, strong, and ready to run effective winning campaigns, continuing the good work of the many Democrats in office in the county. We look forward to successful Primary and General elections in 2025.”

Tuesday, May 20 is the Pennsylvania Primary. The last day for residents to register to vote for the primary is May 5. The last day to apply for a mail-in ballot from Chester
County Voter Services is May 13. The General Election is Tuesday, November 4.
