Tracie Fountain is a graduate of Drexel University and a Certified Public Accountant who served in the administrations of four Pennsylvania Auditor Generals over 29 years. In September 2019, she resigned to begin her campaign for Auditor General. In addition to her positions of field supervisor and Technical Training Manager, she has served as the Bureau Director for the five auditing bureaus: School Audits, State-Aided Audits, Volunteer Firefighters Relief Association Audits, Liquor Audits, and Children and Youth Services Audits. She and her management team developed the first school safety reviews after the Columbine shooting in 1999; she also conducted the audits of the first 12 charter schools, identifying charter school funding disparities.  She developed bus driver qualifications testing, still used by the department today, in response to a Red Lion School District bus driver going off route with a bus load of students. As Director of Children and Youth Services Audits, she developed a risk-based audit approach that led to the discovery of many Children and Youth agencies’ failure to monitor contracted In-Home Purchased Services providers. By releasing transparent audit reports and establishing open lines of communications with citizens, Tracie will ensure that taxpayer funds are efficiently used for their intended purposes and that funded programs achieve their established objectives.
