A lifelong Philadelphian, Judge Daniel D. McCaffery was born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. Dan’s father was a printer while his mother was a custodial worker for the School District of Philadelphia. After graduating from high school, Dan served on active duty in the United States Army from 1983-86 and the United States Army Reserve from 1986-88. Dan graduated from Temple University (B.A. SCAT, 1988) and Temple Law School (J.D., 1991). After serving 22 years as a prosecutor and civil trial attorney, including as Chairman of the commercial litigation dept of one of Montgomery County’s top law firms, he was elected in 2013 to Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas, where he has been a highly respected Judge assigned to the busiest trial division.

"No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence." — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
