West Chester, PA (June 13, 2018) – An election was held tonight in Chester County with 146 days to go until the all-important November midterms. Dick Bingham of East Marlborough was elected Chair of the Chester County Democratic Committee (CCDC) with the goal of turning the county “blue” on November 6 and beyond, despite a 15,000 Republican voter registration edge.

More than 340 newly elected Chester County Committee Persons gathered at West Chester Stetson Middle School for the quadrennial Reorganization Meeting. Their task was to elect the next Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer along with the Audit Committee and Property Management Committee.

After a formal nomination process, speeches and voting, the winners are:

Chair – Dick Bingham of East Marlborough

Vice Chair – Marsha Peltz of Malvern

Secretary – Nick Allen of West Chester

Treasurer – MaryAnn Piccioni of Paoli

Audit Committee – Marianne Johnson of West Chester, Mary McCracken of Wayne, Maria McCabe of Glenmoore

Property Management Committee – Jim Salvas of West Chester, Jim Bannan of Exton, Alan Yockey of Paoli, Linda Scott of West Chester

“I am proud to hand over my gavel to Dick,” said outgoing Chair Brian McGinnis who served with Bingham on the Executive Board. “It’s now off to November 6. Let’s win this!”

The Democrats are poised for another historic win after 2017’s sweep of the four County Row Offices. Chrissy Houlahan, running for the 6th Congressional District seat, leads a long list of midterm election candidates, a majority of them women!

Bingham laid out his vision in his nominating speech. “Our goal is to help every one of our 228 precincts become a voter turnout powerhouse. Electing Democrats in Chester County will be the norm, never again the exception.”

The Chester County Democratic Committee believes in Freedom, Fairness and Opportunity for all Americans regardless of what they believe, who they are, or where they came from. Find them online at chescodems.org.

Don’t Cut Health Plans

Letter, Daily Local News, 11/12/17

Congressman Costello turned his back on constituents when he voted in support of the federal budget resolution that would cut Medicare by $487 billion and $1 trillion from Medicaid over the next 10 years. I know Congressman Costello can do better.

I know firsthand the importance of Medicaid. My brother depended on Medicaid through his battle with cancer. I cared for him until his death, and saw all the treatment and care he would not have gotten without Medicaid. He was just one of 2.5 Million Pennsylvanians who depend on Medicaid.

This week, Republicans released their new tax “reform” bill, which will give away trillions in tax breaks that mostly benefit the richest Americans and corporations paid for by these huge cuts to health care programs that seniors like me, kids like my grandchildren, working families like mine, veterans like my cousins and people with disabilities depend on.

We’ve got to really pay attention because Congress is using the same fast-track process that they used in trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act earlier this year to jam the legislation through before anyone realizes who’s really paying for these big tax breaks.

If Congressman Costello truly cares about his constituents, he won’t cut our health care in order to give big donors big tax breaks. Everyone in the district who depends on Medicare and Medicaid should call his office now and ask him to oppose the tax breaks paid for by of our health care.
